TODAY’S MEDITATION – Do you know the difference between a believer and a Christian? (John 15:4)

Today, our churches are filled with church-goers. It is interesting to note that not every church-goer is a Christian: I have know a lady who is a Christian and she is married to an unbeliever (Muslim). Out of respect for his wife, he goes to church with her, since she is also playing the game fasting during ramadan with him. My brother, my sister? Are you a mere believer or a Christian? You see, it is not because you believe in Christ that you are Christian… If you believe that Christ is the son of God and that He died and rose again, yes, that makes you a believer… and this paves the way for you to become a Christian. Being a Christian is abiding to the teachings of Jesus-Christ? Today’s verse says: “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me”. Now let’s put it in a earthly way for understand this: imagine a parent who never swears. You meet their children and any word that comes from their mouth is mingled with swear. The first thing anyone who think is: ‘is that child really their child?’ or ‘these parents might have missed something in the child’s education’. My brother my sister, Jesus cannot miss anything in educating you. But you can choose to become a Christian by applying His teachings. Believing in Him is good, but it is not what makes you a Christian… Just like any child knows the voice of his parents, Jesus is telling you this: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Now, do you LISTEN TO His voice or do you content yourself with HEARING his voice. A believer hears Him and does not necessarily listen to Him, that’s why a believer would tend to go their own ways and not necessarily Jesus’ ways. Where do you stand today? Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
