TODAY’S MEDITATION – Do not let those who mock or criticize you keep you from pressing through into a new dimension (1 Samuel 1:13-18)

My brother, my sister, how long have you be expecting something to happen in your life? How long have you felt miserable because you know, you are sure, you feel that God wants something to come out of you, but it seems that all avenues are blocked and whatever you start does not go through?

You see, Hannah wanted a child so badly, she agonised in prayer before God, telling Him enough is enough… and God granted her request (1 Samuel 1); Jacob wrestled with the angel of the Lord to give birth to a new condition in His life… he said to the angel: “I will not let you until you bless me” (Genesis 32:26)… Do you realise that the advantage you have over them is that today, because Jesus died on the cross for you and His Spirit dwells in you, your access to God is much more privileged than theirs? So who can stop you from getting that promise come out of you except from yourself? Yes, my friend, maybe you are crying, you are fed up, you are angry… but you have not been desperate enough to say enough is enough to God, just as would a pregnant woman and do the kind of prayer that makes Him move. So, allow me to remind you this: God is the God of impossible and He can change your life in a way that people will only have their mouths to say: “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? Yet no sooner is Zion in labour than she gives birth to her children” (Isaiah 66:8). Yes, Hannah was being mocked by Penninah, but one day Penninah must have asked herself when seeing Hannah pregnant all of the sudden!

It is time you started pouring out your heart to God my friend, like Hannah. Enter into labour, because that promise has been in you too long. When a woman is giving birth, ask her if she has time to think about what people say or think about her. So, the first think is, you don’t have to care about what is going around: Hannah ignored what Eli was thinking, but drew neared to God. Do not let those who mock or criticize you keep you from pressing through into a new dimension. The second thing is that, she did not stay home to pray… she stood up to go early to the temple to pray; Jacob was up praying all night long… Have you ever heard or seen a woman giving birth naturally without suffering a bit or as quick as some prayers we sometimes do? My friend, the prayer that gives birth to the promise of God is a serious prayer, because it is the time of “travail”. What is “travail”, it’s a word that means “work” or “labour”. So roll up your spiritual sleeves! But travail takes place after you have carried something in your heart for a period of time, just like a woman would have been pregnant for months. Travail is therefore preceded by nurturing the promise, it’s the time to start pushing that promise forth through prayer. After “travail”, the promise will be born, and you will be greatly relieved when the delivery is over!

How many believers have been pregnant with God’s promises but they content themselves with never-ending complaints, praying about it but never push it out. My friend, maybe today is the time you gave birth to something great that God has put in you, so, stand up and push, press through into the life God has planned for you. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
