TODAY’S MEDITATION – Do not depend on what happened yesterday … look up to the compassions God has in store for you today (Lamentations 3:22).

 

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22).

We are so often absorbed by our earthly activities that sometimes, even when we know that God is Love and He takes care of us, and if we really realised that day by day, anxiety would have no chance around our mind. The fact is that many people look back to their past to determine their present, even if they think that it can be better. My brother, my sister, stop thinking that things “can be better” to believe they “will be better” because the Bible says “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). Yes, God renews his compassions every morning. What does it mean? Maybe yesterday you went to bed having a headache and you prayed, if you think today is a new day, you should not wake up thinking about the headache because the Bible tells you: “herefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). Therefore, when you wake up this morning, your eyes should rather seek the mercies of God rather than revisit the headache of yesterday. The fact is that sometimes we cherish the bad things that happen to us or that are around us, even without knowing we do: the way we talk or act towards the circumstances can e different from what we truly believe. Are there not many people who claim with their mouths that they are Christians, yet the way they talk or act says all the contrary? It’s the same thing when you let what happened yesterday take over your present.

My friend, today is a new day that the Lord has made. Rejoice in advance… if your eyes are set on Him, not on the person who upset you yesterday, nor on the unexpected problem that came up from nowhere yesterday, or even from yesterday’s disease, or on anything thathappened you in the past, then the new fresh oil that the Lord has prepared while you were sleeping will flow over you… Yes, while we sleep, we really do not know what’s happening, but Jesus neither sleeps nor slumber: sitting at the right hand of God, He made sure that this morning, we are counted among the living and not among the dead; He watched over us as He did when He was in this world, to make sure that this day, a fresh oil will be poured on the heads of those who believe in Him for a fresh start on things that were blocked yesterday… today’s verse says great is the faithfulness of the Lord. Yes, His promises for your life can be accomplished, so look up for those promises, stop turning back to the past. The anointing of yesterday was for yesterday…. maybe you failed to use it as the Lord had planned because the bitterness and pain of the past stood as a barrier to you. It does not matter, because today there is a fresh anointing that has been prepared to enable you to overcome difficulties and make you move from glory to glory, for the glory of God Almighty. Turn your eyes to Jesus! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
