Is the value of man defined by what he possesses?
So many people suffer because of lack of self-esteem, but especially because of the views of others about their lives, about their choices of life. Some have even committed suicide because their sense of self-worth has been destroyed by the words of others. My friend, God is offended when you are insulted or being degraded because to Him everyone is so precious that He sent His Son to shed His blood and die. If God says you are precious, then, let no one tell you that you are not. My brother, my sister, never forget how precious you are in the eyes of our Lord.
You see, the life of Jesus was in His blood which was completely pure and perfect in all sense. Jesus was like a lamb without blemish and imperfection and the Father accepted His blood as payment for you and me. We have been “bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20) and the value of something is determined by the price someone is willing to pay for it. The enormity of the price that Jesus paid for you and me should tell us how precious we are. My brother, my sister, God loves you so much that He arranged to pay a price that had never been paid before and that is why you should never reduce your value to the basis of your professional success or your marriage. These things do not last forever and if you base your value and your identity on anything you can lose, it is because you still do not know your real value.
Let me remind you of this value: the Bible tells us that God condemns people who say that you are nothing. ” But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell” (Matthew 5:22). The body of Christ has not yet understood how serious this verse is. Anyone who uses degrading words to reduce another person is used by the enemy to remove the meaning of that person’s value and that is undermining the person.
Yes, my friend, you are precious to God. He even calls you the apple of His eyes (Psalm 17: . In fact, you are so special that Jesus said that ” even the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30). Jesus died for you so, when someone says you are not useful, raise your head high and answer that you have so much value that Jesus died for you. If you are born again, you are in Him and He is in you: ” For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3: 3). It means that you are just as valuable as Jesus is. Now, to those who despise or laugh at you because you have nothing that is short-lived (a house, cars, work, money, etc…) thinking that you are nothing, proudly lift up your head and answer like Apostle Paul: “By the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:10)… ” I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Stay blessed in the name of Jesus.
