TODAY’S MEDITATION – Break up with your past once and for all (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Many people have given their lives to Christ but still suffer because of their past. My brother, my sister, today’s verse says : “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!” Yes, sin is sin, and all sins (big or small) make us sinners, and all sins cut us off God our Holy God! And therefore, all sins lead us to death (physically or spiritually) because they disqualify us from living with God. Now, by His loving and amazing grace, God is still stretching His hands towards us through Jesus who died on the cross for us to be freed from the penalty of our sins (Romans 3:24). Yes, no matter the extend of your sin, God can declare you righteous today again (Roman 3:23)… and He does not leave you the same as He also makes you become a brand new person on the inside! How? The Bible says, when we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us. This is how you get to start a new life that gives you a new hope, a new future. Your past is therefore erased as its counter is brought back to zero by God. So why do you continue counting flaws, past hurts, past problems, past issues that God has totally erased from your life? It’s not because the consequences still have some effects in your life that it means those past problems are still a problem in your life. You can’t be the same anymore once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Let me put this in clear words: when you believe in God and accept Jesus, you are not reformed, rehabilitated or reeducated… YOU ARE RE-CREATED, you are a new creation, you are born again and that’s why you can now live in vital union with Christ (Colossians 2:6-7). Yes, it’s not a page of your past life that is turned at your conversion… it’s a new book that starts and the first page is blank. The old book is thrown away by God, so it goes with everything that was part of your past! My friend, from the day you accepted Christ, you have entered a new covenant with God, that’s why you should perceive your future in a new perspective, look at people and all the creation in a new way… Break up with your past once and for all, because the things you are still counting on from the old book or the things you still see from the old book do no longer exist, and that’s why you may still suffer trying to see things that are no longer there. So take notice. Your change is not superficial, yet it will not be visible overnight: all you need to know and believe is that the new order of your life is under Christ authority and as His Spirit works inside of you, renewing your mind, slowly, slowly… you will see it soon and people will see it too! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
