Lots of believers think that because they have accepted the Lord, they have also submitted to Him. My brother, my sister, when we read today’s passage, we see that although Nebuchadnezzar praised Daniel’s God, He still did not believe in Him completely or submit to Him alone: “Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)” (verse 8). The same, my friend, many people attend church, would tell you they are observing the Bible’s principles and use a Christian language, but they don’t really honour the Lord with their lives. Profession does not always mean possession. Today it is worth wondering this: ‘does my life match my profession of faith?’ What we do determines who we truly are more than what we say, that’s the reason why the Bible insists on the sincerity of our hearts from Genesis to Revelation: if you are not sincere with yourself first, you cannot be sincere with your brother, how much more with the Lord? And that alone makes your life a show rather than a Christian example… why? Because you will say things you do not do. My friend, have you ever come across some who says I will visit you tomorrow, but then you think ‘he always says it and never shows up?’ And the saddest thing is that when the person told you ‘I will come’, you thought in your head ‘I know you will not… because you always say things you do not do?’ It has to be said: this is not the behaviour of a true child of God. You see, dogs can only give birth to dogs. Now, the Bible says when you become a child of God, you are spiritually renewed to become a true follower of Christ. Therefore, you ought to grow to display His character too, which includes being trustworthy… and Christ’s character is accessible only when we start submitting to Him in obedience to His teachings. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [retweet] [facebook]
