TODAY’S MEDITATION – Believe in what God has placed inside of you, not in what the outside world is showing or saying about you (1 Peter 3:3-4)

What is God’s beauty? My brother, my sister, God’s beauty is a package comprising love and compassion and everything that flows from both. Today’s society teaches us to focus so much on ourselves, including on our outward appearence, that many believers are described as this today: “on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness” (Matthew 23:28). But the truth is, there is God’s beauty in each of us. Though we all are sinners, in God’s eyes, there is beauty inside of us, so it is up to us to know it, acknowledge it, accept it, expose it or even kill by the way we think or do things. Unfortunately, as the world evolves, it stresses and urges our eyes to external beauty. Yes, our societies decide about beauty criteria: for instance, in the 1990s, women needed to be flat and skinny, nowadays, they need to be curvy to e beautiful, which pushes many to do surgeries, etc… Like the book of Ecclesiastes would all: all that is vain!

Today’s verse says: “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” You see, the Bible also tells us that God wants us to prosper and be healthy as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2). In other words, a beautiful soul will automatically show a beautify external appearance. My friend, how many people look good externally while inside they are literally dead because they are lonely, they feel not loved or even ugly. What you see outside is an illusion! True beauty is what comes from someone’s heart.

My friend, remember the story of Samson who was going to marry and he killed a lion that seemed fierce, but after a while he found bees and honey in the dead lion (Judges 14:8). Honey is sweet, but who could have imagined finding it within a fierce, threatening lion? May be you have been seen outwardly like someone you are not really. It’s time to look at yourself with God’s truth as your mirror. Surround yourself with inspiring Bible verses to discover the purpose and the confidence that flow from your inner beauty. Sometimes, our personality, our character fade away before what people say or think about us. Now is the time to look at your say the way God sees you and wants you to see yourself: His beautiful child who is filled with His grace and unfading beauty that comes from a gentle and quiet spirit and that ready to share this spirit for the Father’s glory. Believe in what God has placed inside of you, not in what the outside world is showing or saying about you. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
