TODAY’S MEDITATION – Believe and you will see the glory of God! (John 11:1-44)

In these verses, Mary and Martha are desperate because they are seeing their brother dying. They turned to Jesus for help, just like many of us do when we face hardships. They believed in His ability to help because they had seen His miracles. We, too, know Jesus’ miracles, both from the Scriptures and through changed lives we have seen around us. My brother, my sister, it is true that when we need extraordinary help, Jesus offers extraordinary resources. But the problem with many of us, is that as we turn to Jesus for help, we sometimes also lack confidence in His ability to do something, forgetting that any trial a believer faces can ultimately bring glory to God, because God can bring good out of any bad situation, just like when Joseph told his brothers: ” You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20). Do you know that your present hardships are intended for something good that can glorify the Lord Almighty? So, when troubles come, my friend, do not grumble, complain or blame God like pagans. Instead, see those problems as opportunities for the Lord to glorify His name and for you to honour Him. Mary and Martha were desperate, their brother finally died and they did not understand why Jesus did not come as soon as He heard the news of his friend’s sickness, just like us when we call on Him and it seems that He does not hear us… My friend, had Lazarus not died, the miracle was not going to be as great as it ended up to be… So know that, the time the Lord is taking to answer you is not only a time to enable you to trust Him entirely, but also for God to be glorified because Our Father does not share His glory. Today, the Lord Jesus is reminding you this: “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”. So, my friends, we should not behave impatiently like Mary and Martha who, even though they knew Jesus and what He was capable of, still wondered why He was not coming. You have an advantage of them: unlike them who had not seen Jesus going through the cross where all our sins, our problems, our sicknesses where nailed with Jesus. So, let’s us not make Jesus weep for us again because of our unbelief… Listen to what He is asking you today and “BELIEVE!” Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
