TODAY’S MEDITATION – Being successful does not mean you are blessed by God (James 1:17

The Bible says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17). Nowadays, we tend to mix up things: we see people who do not know God successful in everything they do and we think God has blessed them. My brother, my sister, being successful does not mean that someone is blessed by God, for “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it” (Proverbs 10:22).

How many people do we look at successful people in this world? Yes, their table may be full of food, they may have a house in every country you can name on earth, they may fly in private jets, their children may go to universities you cannot even look at… but if they do not have Jesus, they are certainly not blessed by God. My friend, we have access to the blessings of God through Jesus Christ. Earthly success is temporary and it lasts for your lifetime, which is limited. But, the blessings of God are eternal: God never takes back what He gives… there is no sorrow attached to His blessings. You who have set your eyes on Christ, do not get tired because what you have may not be visible with physical eyes, but it is more real than material things or material success: I read this week that a man was buried in his Hummer. Lord, have mercy on us and enable us to understand your truths before it is too late, because if this person had had Jesus, He would have asked to be buried even in a blanket… Where was his eyes set while alive? Yes, let’s understand why God does not give His children materials things just like that: “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3). As simple as that.

Are your eyes set on the earthly success your heart longs for or is it really tuned on things above? You see, God has already provided us with His grace to be able to deal with our daily issues and every day He renews His mercies (Lamentations 3:22-23). My friend, you are a chosen child of God, so seek to access His blessings. He said, His blessings will follow us… His blessings will pursue us… Joseph is the best example to recall. Even in the house of Potiphar, because Joseph was blessed, Potiphar’s house was blessed… Yes, let’s learn to seek the blessings of God according to His Word: “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)… What steps can you take today in order to access all the blessings God has in store for you? Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
