TODAY’S MEDITATION: Are you looking for divine favour? (2 Chronicles 16:9)

My brother, my sister, the day you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you indeed received the favour of God, for those who have received Jesus are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). This favour is the same that any child would get for a loving parent! The Bible says, without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), but by expressing your faith in God, you have allowed yourself to please Him and have been declared righteous (Romans 4:5), which now allows you to live in God’s favour as His son or His daughter. However, if that favour is mainly spiritual and has not yet manifested physically in all or part of your life, then you may be wondering: “how can I get God’s favour”? The answer is simple: believe in the Lord Jesus!
You see, many people say they believe in God, but God seeks out those who love Him and love His commands so that He can bless, guide, and protect them (Psalm 37:23). Let’s clarify here that everyone who is prosperous or healthy out there has the favour of God… yes, some wicked can prosper and some faithless can live at ease (Jeremiah 12:1). However, the Lord is telling us not to look at those but to wait on Him: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes” Psalm 37:7). Similarly, the Bible also shows us that having the favour of God does not mean we will never go through difficulties. Many people in the Bible had the Lord’s favour but also suffered hardships: Noah (Genesis 6:8), Moses (Exodus 32:11), Daniel (Daniel 10:19), and Mary (Luke 1:28) were favoured of the Lord, but they also struggled with difficulties like anyone else.
Now, what can you do where you are, if you are wondering about how to get the favour of God? Let’s see what the Bible says: “These are the ones I look on with favour: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word” (Isaiah 66:2). The same, the Bible also says that “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” (2 Chronicles 16:9). Most of the time, when people say they want the favour of God, it relates to their finances or financial situation… however, the same people do “foolish things” not applying the Word of God in terms of finances… until they are “at war” as the Scriptures says, then they start fighting demons, while it is their refusal to obey God’s Word that has caused their troubles. My friend, a child who knows that his parents love him, takes care of the family’s business parents because it is his inheritance. Many of God’s children neglect God’s work without knowing that it is their own goods the same as you can’t be asking God’s favour for health while drinking or smoking to death for example! Divine favour is not a scientific theory… it is available for every child of God who works according to what the Scripture says: “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). We need to learn to be “perfect” towards the Lord as we seek His favour. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
