TODAY’S MEDITATION – Are you being a good ambassador for Jesus to this world? (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Most Christians like to quote they are ambassadors of Christ. And they are right: as it is written, then it is true. Now, my brother, my sister, allow me to remind you who an ambassador is: “An ambassador is an official envoy, especially a highest ranking diplomat who represents a state and is usually accredited to another sovereign state, or to an international organization as the resident representative of their own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment” (from Wikipedia). Hmmmm, even the world can teach us very well. This definition says it all: an ambassador is sent for a special mission, for temporary assignment to represent a country, the country he/she is coming from.

Now, let me ask you this. What is your citizenship? Make sure your answer can be validated by God, if you say from the Kingdom of God. My friend, the Bible says that, since you accepted Christ, “you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world” (John 15:18-19). My friend, do you realise the greatest opportunity God has given you in this world? Becoming His ambassador? The Bible says “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:20-21). Hmmm… this means that to be an ambassador of Christ we first need to ensure we have reconciled with God. Yes, my friend, are you a good foreign representative of the Kingdom? It is not your answer that will say it. It is your actions!

My fellow Christians brothers and sisters, as God’s people, let’s always remember that we are foreigners on earth and our loyalty has to remain always to our real King, Jesus. Some people are more afraid of the sanction of the authorities of the country they are living in than the sanction that could come from Jesus. Greatest mistake and lie from the devil. Let me remind you that Jesus will not return on earth as the obedient Lamb, but as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, to judge the living and the dead. Yes, we have to cooperate with the authorities of the countries we live in and be responsible citizens, because an ambassador is never ambassador in his own country but to another country where he/she must keep the local laws without forsaking the laws of his/her country, in order to represent well the one who sent him/her. My friend, are you being a good foreign ambassador for Jesus to this world? Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
