TODAY’S MEDITATION – Are you a true ambassador of Christ? (2 Corinthians 5:20)

One day, I heard someone saying “Jesus, what the f—-“! Of course, you can imagine that the missing word was certainly nothing else but profanity of the name of Jesus. My brother, my sister, our lips should confess the Lord’s name in praise alone, and we should not allow anyone to use it profanely. Now, forgive me to say this: we should sometimes do like the Muslims: try and use a bad word accompanied with their prophet Mohamed and see what a true Muslim would do! Their immediate reaction would be to defend him or to correct you, isn’t it? This alone should tell us that we sometimes take Jesus like our next door friend so much that the value of His name, which is above all names, means nothing to us and therefore we don’t react when people use it anyhow. Go at a school break: if you see boys fighting, most of the time you will hear one saying the other insulted his mum. Now, when someone insults Jesus, how do you react? This is not to say you have to fight physically, but do you just turn your heels away? If you do, then you should read this: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7). So, whoever uses the name of our Lord in vain should be reminded this truth, and you who are showing complacency to such behaviour, you are accomplice of such profanity when you do nothing. Let’s learn to be true representatives of the Lord, for it is our responsibility as His followers, and by doing so we would also be spreading the Good News to those who still don’t know Him. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
