TODAY’S MEDITATION – Are we little gods? (John 10:34-36)

Today some people or Christian denominations call themselves ‘little gods’, claiming Jesus said they were (John 10:34-36)… The truth is that they remove the context Jesus used to mockingly qualify His audience as ‘gods’ as He was quoting Psalm 82:6. My brother, my sister, let no one deceive you: when God created man, He declared: “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). And many times, the Bible tells us that we are or ought to be “AS God”, “LIKE God”, or “LIKE Christ” Why? When He makes us AS/LIKE God, it is for us to do good works for His Kingdom, just like when he made Moses AS God to Aaron (Exodus 4:15-16) or Moses AS God to Pharaoh (Exodus 7:1-7), giving Him clear commands of what to do with the authority He was giving Him before Pharaoh.

So, are we little gods?
No we are not! My answer is definitely “NO” because if I am a god, then I do not need Jesus and I am refuting His sacrifice on the Cross, which gives me not only special privileges in the Kingdom of God but also the power and authority (the Holy Spirit) I need in this life to be able to fight against sin and evil. You see, Jesus healed the sick and made miracles in His own name because He is God. But we need to ask or declare things in His name! My friend, declare money or anything you need into existence in your name or your Pastor’s name and wait very patiently to see where it will take you… Even declared in Jesus’ name, it will have no effect because God answers only prayers that are according to His will (1 John 5:14-15) not according to our selfish will or ambitions! Yes, God made us AS/LIKE God to deliver His people, to heal the sick, bring souls to His Kingdom not to stop the rain or to prosper. Your prosperity has already been given to you as you are seeking His Kingdom first (Matthew 6:33). Why do you want to declare the rain to stop? It is selfish because someone around your area might need that rain for his plants to grow… you cannot force things or God!

Let’s go back to Genesis to understand that trying to be a god is satanic, my friends: it is a confession of independence from our Creator who made us in His image and likeness. The only creature that exalted itself to claim to be a god, is Lucifer and today we know that Satan is the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). So, allow me to finish this Word of Faith with a Scripture My dear friends, we are the CHILDREN OF GOD, and WHAT WE WILL BE HAS NOT YET BEEN MADE KNOWN. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:2). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
