This verse sounds hard, but there are truths that God has set and we sometimes need to hear them again and again! My brother, my sister, life is the time you can choose between life and death… because the dead know nothing and there is no work, planning, knowledge or wisdom after death. Today’s verse says: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” Are we not all heading to death? Yes we are. So, my friend, when considering the uncertainties of our future compared to the certainty of death, we should enjoy life as God’s gift and also prepare for the future with Christ instead of focusing on earthly worries, pleasures or wealth. “What is your wealth really worth before God, anyway?” True enough that sometimes it is difficult to see the fastest or the strongest lose a race, just like it pains us to see the wise remain poor or the skillful unrewarded with wealth or honour. Some people, including believers, see such examples and call them unfair… and they are right in a way. Yet, we should never forget that the world is not infinite and sin has twisted life in general, making things not to be as God intended in the first place. That is why we should always read the book of Proverbs to be reminded of how things would be if everyone acted fairly and according to God’s purposes. Nevertheless, that should not keep you from doing what is right before the Lord, by remaining focus with your eyes set on Christ: don’t let the inequities of this life keep you from earnest, dedicated work, especially for the Kingdom, because whatever you do, whether in a church or not, you ought to do it to serve the Creator of all things, not people (Colossians 3:23). Maybe you’re reading this now and thinking it does not concern you. However, this can affect a person you know, so do not let them remain ignorant: it is today, while we are alive, that we can accept Christ… after our death, everything is completed. Just read Luke 16:19-31 to understand that even the daily prayers and lit candles from those who love us will not be sufficient to give us eternal life, if we have not prepared ourselves during our lifetime ! And you who have already understood this, do not give up: pray, evangelize without ceasing so that the others will also give their lives to the Lord. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
