TODAY’S MEDITATION – Accept the love of God (1 John 4:10)

It is sad that many people, especially believers, do not know that God loves them and that they have not yet known this love. They talk about it but continue to consider Him as a God of judgment. Yet, it is because of His great love for them that God sent Jesus to die on the cross. He is a God of love and it was his idea to save mankind from sin and destruction. Jesus came to reveal to the world the love of the Father. He is “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15) and this is the most intimate way of addressing a father. My brother, my sister, if you do not see Him as “Father,” then you have not yet come close to Him as He would like you to.
My friend, Jesus is asking you to ” Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37), but never forget what real love is. The Bible tells us this: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10). True love is not defined by how much you love God, but rather by how much He loves you. It is important to recall this, because, today, many Christians needlessly compare their love for God with each other’s. On the contrary, knowing and tasting the love of God is allowing His grace to open our eyes to this vital truth: God loves you and He is with you and not against you. Indeed, “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). My friend, your love for God gives you the assurance that God first loved you. The more you believe He loves you, the more you will love Him. That is why it is important for the believers to keep their eyes away from their own works or to try to measure how much they God but instead learn to accept how much He loves us.
My friend, you are precious in the eyes of God and nothing can take away His great love for you… If you truly believe in the Sacrifice of the Cross, then do not seek the love of men. Instead, seek the love that was manifested for you on the Cross and bears the name that is above all names: Jesus Christ. Make the love of Christ your shield, your guide, your engine, your weapon to fight against all that the enemy has tried to do against you. Stay blessed in the name of Jesus.
