TODAY’S MEDITATION – A dishonest communication hinders good relationships (Psalm 24: 1-6)

It is no secret to anyone that we are living in a fallen world where people, including believers, would rather choose to lie than facing the consequences of their own actions. My brother, my sister, God values honesty! Dishonesty comes easily, especially when complete truthfulness could cost us something, make us uncomfortable or put us in an unfavourable light. Yet and still, the Bible tells us this: “Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god” (verses 3-4).

Yes, dishonest communications hinders relationships. Without honesty, a relationship with God is impossible. My friend, this means that if we lie to others, we begin to deceive ourselves, therefore, God cannot hear us or speak to us because of the wall of self-deception we are building in front and around us. Friends, let’s pour out our hearts before the Lord sincerely and get rid of the lies that can hinder our prayers from being answered. There are too many ways lies can settle in our lives: refusing to face a situation could make us live in lies; spending time accusing others instead of doing our little part could make use tackle life with lies; disobeying the Word when it invites us to leave sin could plunge us into a life of pretence and lies… Let’s learn to walk in the light of the Word of God, the only truth that we will never fail us even when everything seems in our disadvantage; the Word will never cause us to make mistakes. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
