TODAY’S MEDITATION: “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12-13)

Salvation is guaranteed in Christ Jesus “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Unfortunately, many believers of Christ have understood this passage so well that they sing their salvation every day while spending their time ‘working out’ the salvation of others by analyzing their walk with the Lord as if they can save anyone. My brother, my sister, in today’s passage, the Bible tells us that “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose”. So, what does work out your OWN salvation mean?
My friend, you may claim to be saved and pointing fingers at others you think are not. Be careful that as you are doing so, you may actually miss the mark yourself. salvation is the work of Christ Jesus on the Cross, and therefore not man to judge anyone’s salvation. First of all, because you may judge someone based on what you see, which is limited and you don’t exactly know the relationship that person has with God. Secondly, the Bible tells us to focus on our OWN salvation, to work it out, not to work for it… So, through our actions that are aligned with the Word of God, we have to show evidence of our salvation. It is simple: we are saved by God’s grace through faith. But God expect us to demonstrate that our faith is real and the only way to do that is through the way we live our walk with Christ which ought to produce fruit, the evidence of our salvation because Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).
You see, today, the Church is mixed with weeds and wheat (Matthew 13:24-30), or goats and sheep (Matthew 25:31-46). What distinguishes them is that true followers of Christ demonstrate their God-given faith by their God-dependent works. They don’t walk alone and they fear the Lord. My friend, God gives us the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. The secret to a changed life, a life that demonstrates genuine salvation, is not to become an agent of Satan within the church while pretending to be holy, it is to submit to God’s control and let Him work in you. Therefore, when you pray, always ask God to help you desire to do His will. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
