TODAY’S MEDITATION – Your Heavenly Father is a Sovereign God (Genesis 14:19-20)

So many people are looking for a person they can refer to in their lives. My brother, my sister, your Father in Heaven is a sovereign God possessing supreme and ultimate power. He is Jehovah El Elyon which means “God Most High.” Do you know what that means to you? It simply means that no whatever you are going through, in the midst of a great trial, you should always remember these words of King David: “I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me” (Psalm 57:2).
My friend, our Lord Jesus is God and His name stresses His highest supremacy in all the universe. When you truly know this fact, you cannot be a coward because knowing Him strips the fear out of your life: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7). You see, knowing the Most High God can never make you passive: in the contrary, you will face your enemies head-on and take immediate action not to be robbed or deprived of your privileges so painfully gained back by Jesus… In Genesis 14, Abram took 318 of his servants and went up against a huge army who had taken his nephew Lot captive. But today’s believers of Christ only know how to cry out to God! Abram indeed managed to take back what the enemy had stolen from him and he went to Melchizedek the high priest who blessed him: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand” (Genesis 14:19-20).
My friend, God did not create you to be a coward and you need to see yourself as God sees you. An angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said to him, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior!” (Judges 6:12). God saw Gideon as a great warrior but Gideon saw himself as the least of his brethren and unworthy of being called such a name. God saw Gideon differently from how Gideon saw himself and this is usually the case with most people. God sees your potential and what you are capable of doing and becoming. He said to Gideon “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14) God sees you as being more amazing than you think you actually are. Get fear out of your life and boldly declare, “If God be for me, who can be against me? I am who God says I am and I can do what God says I can do!” God is on your side and you need to stand up and act like it. He is in you and His might is within you. The Most High God goes wherever you go and, because of that, there is no reason to doubt and fear. Stand up in this might of yours and do what God tells you to do. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
