How many believers feel highs and lows depending on the circumstances? Too many. My brother, my sister, when things are going well, do you feel elated and optimistic about life? And when hardships come, do you sink into depression or negativity? In that case, today, hear Jesus talking to you directly: “9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Interesting, isn’t it? But the fact is, true joy transcends the rolling waves of circumstances because it comes from a consistent relationship with Jesus. Therefore, when your life is intertwined with His, He will always help you walk through adversity without sinking into discouraging lows and manage prosperity without moving into deceptive highs.
My friend, the joy of living with and for Jesus daily will keep you levelheaded, no matter how high or low your circumstances. Besides, note that the Lord says this joy is possible only when we remain in His love and if we keep His commands (verse 10). This should make us understand that we are partly responsible for the ups and downs we experience, even if they are caused by circumstances that we sometimes cannot control. If you want your joy to be complete, there is only one alternative: obey the Lord and abide in Him. He is faithful and will never disappoint you. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
