TODAY’S MEDITATION – “Can two walk together, except they be agreed”(Amos 3:3)

The Bible asks us this question: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed”(Amos 3:3). How many of us walk together without ever agreeing on the terms of our being together, walking together, staying together. My brother, my sister, have you ever realised that we actually say “we ACCEPT Jesus as our Lord and Saviour”? Accepting means we have come to an agreement with Christ that we want to walk with Him, because we agree with the terms of what He is offering us, because on His part, He agreed to walk with us on the Cross when He gave His life for us.

Now, the world has understood that and created the concept of oral or written contract: when you find a job for example, you agree with the employer on the terms of your journey in their business. Now, why is it that many people start relationships without agreeing on the terms of their journey together? My friend, do not ever assume that what you don’t want to see or what you don’t like in a relationship will change in time. That is the reason why we need to learn to use the principles of the Lord, as set in His Word, not as defiled by the world. A relationship with God is not made based on a contract, but based on a covenant where we are more than conquerors. You know, God has no benefit to be drawn from your personal relationship with Him, except for what He offers you: His salvation and life in Heaven with Him for eternity.

It is sad to see so many Christian are not at peace in their Christian walk: Some believers think that things were good, their life was easier and less restrictive when they were not in Christ… As if being in bondage was less restrictive! The truth is that, in the world, things always LOOK good, and Satan rejoices when God’s children do not know the terms of their walk with Christ. God is good and He can only give us what is good. Satan is evil and he can only give us what is evil. My friend, ensure you know who you are submitted to, who you are REALLY walking with in your heart, for the Bible says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).

Yes, we may act religiously and deceive others and ourselves while having no relationship with God at all. The fact is that we are either with the King of kings (Jesus) or with the king of this world (the devil. To know in what relationship we are (not in what relationship we confess), it is simple, let us refer to the Word: “You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).

My friend, our Lord Jesus paid for our freedom from the world at a high place, so let’s learn to follow Him sincerely. You can not work in a company that pays you a salary every month while openly working for the competition at the same time. This is treason and infidelity. That’s unfortunately what many believers are still doing: they want to drink the Living Water while continue drinking water from the dark world. This produces spiritual diarrhea, in other words, spiritual instability, lack of peace, spiritual stagnation and a soul in conflict. We must be determined to become loyal and respect our own words, once we have said that we walk with Christ. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
